Being confronted with mental illness will battle both your mental and physical will. It often feels that your mind is working against you.
Mental illness is a virtually invisible opponent that exists only within one’s mind that no one else but you can truly know. It doesn’t matter how much prolific advice you get from loved ones, you are up against an enemy greater than any physical stature. It is a feat greater than climbing Mt. Everest. That is the tough part to accept. It is almost instinctual to deny it’s existence. You may go to sleep each night wishing that it would be gone when you awaken in the morning. But wrestling with the fear, anxiety, uncertainty, and doubt will only leave you hopeless and helpless with a feeling that you are in a vicious cycle of damnation for life.
I can attest to all the above. But what I know down to my core is that it is possible with the right strategic and rigorous approach that YOU can defeat the invisible powerhouse of anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Your attitude towards how you feel about your circumstances is one of the core components to you conquering it. I am not asserting that you are supposed to like or approve of your situation, but it is essential that you ACCEPT that you are now in a war – an epic battle of you against you.
